Adventure Racing
Are you seeking for nature, outdoor sports and adventure? So, you probably would enjoy Adventure Racing, a kind of triathlon that happens in a mix of hard and beautiful environments, such as mountains, cold rivers and forests.

The racer usually needs four skills: orienteering, running, biking and swimming (swimming is often changed by rowing). As the races last for several hours, the organizers offer a category for beginners, in an attempt to attract more participants. Despite the length, the energy spent and the environment, it is not a dangerous sport. Participants must have safety equipments as helmet, flashlight, and painkillers. Moreover, they monitor all the way in order to help in case of accidents.

Our state has an internal Championship that is organized by a team based on Canela (www.atitude.tur.br). I had the pleasure of running a couple of races and they were awesome. Of course my team was not a high-ranked one, but we ran and enjoyed as we were!

I disagree about the safety topic. One of the most important element in this sport is the danger, probably because the challenge. Many specialists consider the adventure racing an extreme sport with elevated risk.

You can have danger, excitement and a sense of adventure with the safety gear, though.
